FAQ and Washing Instructions

What size pad should I get?
I would recommend you measure the disposable pad you normally wear and check out our size selection options. Now if you wear tampons and are still unsure I would recommend you start with a 12" and from there you can determine if you would want a bigger or smaller size. If you have a cup and just want back up protection I would recommend a 10" light.

How
many pads would I need?
The answer varies person to person as it depends on your flow type, how many days your period lasts and how often you like to change. Most will start with 1-3 daytime pads and 1 overnight pad for each day of their cycle.

I have a weak bladder. Can cloth pads be used for incontinence?
Yes they can! For minor bladder leaks. They are not meant for full emptying of the bladder though.

How do I keep them stain free?
Simply use the stain treatment method of your preference between your rinse and wash cycles. The sun is also a good bleacher to remove stains. Hydrogen peroxide can also be an option.

What's an ILP (Interlabial pad)?
Interlabial pads are mini pads that you tuck between your vagina lips that come in different shapes and sizes. They are made of the same absorbent material as cloth pads but without a core and a backer. You can fold or roll them into different shapes, the most common method is folding the pad in half. They will catch any minor leaking, and can be used towards the end of your period with or without a pad. It can also be used for people with heavy gushy periods as it will help eliminate the gushing feeling. Will direct the flow more evenly to the center of the pad.

How do I wash my cloth pads?
Before washing it is recommended to place all soiled pads into a wet bag until the end of your cycle.  Make sure to leave the wet bag open at home so that air can circulate.

To wash your pads there are 3 steps

  • Pre-wash or soak
  • Main wash
  • Dry

Step 1: Your Pre-wash or soak can be done in a sink, bucket or in your washing machine on a quick/pre-wash cycle. We recommend using a very small amount of detergent in this step. Optional - You can do a stain treatment in your pre-wash.

Option 1 - Sink: Rinse the pads in the sink after each use and gently squeeze any water out before placing in the wet bag.
Option 2 - Bucket: Place your pads to soak in a bucket for 4 to 8 hours with a small amount of oxy clean after you are done your cycle. Make sure to rinse and gently remove any water or place it in a quick rinse and spin cycle to remove excess water and soap.
Option 3 - Quick Wash in the Washing Machine: You can simply dump all your pads in a quick wash or normal wash cycle, depending on your washing machine settings. You can use a small amount of detergent. (do not use fragrant detergent or fabric softer it ruins the absorbency in the cloth pads) I use the regular Tide powder detergent.

Step 2: For your main wash, add other items of your everyday laundry in with your cloth pads for a full/heavy soil cycle in your washing machine. Do not put more than the recommended amount of detergent.

Tumble dry on a lower heat setting, or air dry in a well ventilated area.

Warning.  Do not:

  • Use bleach
  • Iron
  • Twist the fabric

Do you ship worldwide?
Yes, we do!

How often do I need to replace the pads?
With proper care pads can last between 5 - 10 years!
